Doctor Who: The Sonic Toolbox (tech talk)
A Doctor Who podcast, hosted by Daisy Kaufman and Cheryl Lowe. We focus on Doctor Who from a "how does that work in the Doctor Who universe" science-ish point of view. There's also lots of other Doctor Who discussion, and some rabbit chasing.

We're talking about the Bootstrap Paradox also known as a Closed Time Loop. A lovely little scientific anomaly that allows science fiction writers to confuse the hell out of their readers and viewers.

Please also excuse our brief audio problem mid-show. This was the best we could fix it (and the reason we're a tad late posting).

Remember Capt. Jack's square gun? Well, the "Architect's" dimensional shift bomb is very similar. We figure out how it works in this episode. Get your math books out, this gets real.

PSA: Do yourself and your neighbors a solid and get involved with your local CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). Contact your local fire department or emergency management department, or visit their website, and join the next training class. You won't regret it when the next disaster hits.

We're discussing those emotion indicator badges from the episode "Smile". We also talk a bit about the eclipse that the US just experienced (some of us experiencing it better than others...Cheryl).

Also, no news. And amazingly very little rabbit chasing.

We haven't been able to clear out all the rabbits from the studio just yet. But we're pressing on and discussing some of the new creatures and species that we've been introduced to during this last series. Season. Series/season. Serison. You know what we mean.

WARNING: Contains rabbits

Episode 224: Instant People Machine

We're working out how The Doctor's daughter was cloned, or replicated is a better word. We're also talking about yarn shops and celebrity deaths. Grant makes an appearance. And we have a review of The Doctor's Daughter from Sharon Rose!

Episode 221: Cheryl and the Androids

Though we wind up talking more about the psychology of androids than their workings, it seems Cheryl has completely missed all the android SF stories. Let the education begin!

And Gally news.

Episode 217: It's Just A Jump To The Left

Hyperspace is only a theory and a Science Fiction concept. But for us it's as real as last week's Doctor Who episode. And the subject of this week's show.

We've also got a tiny bit of Gally news. And the usual rabbit chasing.

(Sorry we're late posting this. Technical issues, natch.)

Episode 215: Gunsliinger Borg

Kahler-Tek, known now as "The Gunslinger", kind of looks like a Borg. It got us thinking that perhaps his technology was similar enough to use as a jumping off place for this discussion. And, amazingly enough, for the most part the rabbits seem to have agreed!

We've got a little bit of news. A spoiler-free review of Star Trek Beyond. Also, for you Sherlock fans, the three words for Series 4.

Episode 211: Black Rabbit Holes

Black holes appear in lots of TV shows and movies. Doctor Who being no exception. Here in the Toolbox, we like black holes a lot more than we do those last two episodes we reviewed. And we want to impart our fascination with this cosmic phenomenon to you. As it turns out, we also want to take you on a merry rabbit chase.

We also have news. OMG! News in the summer time? Yes! News!
